NRS Vans
The UC Santa Cruz Natural Reserve System has three dedicated 12-person vans (7604, 7606, and 7675) for transportation between UCSC and various NRS sites. Funding was provided by a private donor with the primary goal of providing transportation to undergraduate students. A recharge fee of ~$1 per mile will be billed to users who are not affiliated with the Natural Reserves. Funding for ongoing maintenance is provided by recharge fees and the UC Santa Cruz Natural Reserve System.
Checkout procedure:
Only trained/authorized drivers are allowed to drive the vans or sign-up in the google calendar. Please contact one of the Reserve Directors for more information.
Always sign-out the vans in the google calendar prior to use and include your Vehicle Number, Your Name, and Destination. (Please be sure to select the correct calendar and not your personal google calendar!)
Please note the fuel level prior to departure and return the vans with at least 3/4 of a tank.
The vans live in the paved Conservation Annex parking lot.
The keys are located in the Conservation Annex in a lock-box (combination will be provided to authorized users)
Prior to departing, please note the starting mileage
After returning, please note the ending mileage.
If you get into an accident, please refer to the information in the glove box.
Upon return, immediately return the key so it is ready for the next user.
Keep the inside of the vans clean (remove trash, vacuum, etc. after each use)
Please remember that extra care should be taken when driving students. Please drive defensively and below the posted speed limit.
